Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

Spaghetti with meat sauce is a weeknight dinner standard.

Ingredients:

+ Add All Ingredients to Shopping List
1 cup onion, chopped+ Add to Shopping List
1 lb. ground beef+ Add to Shopping List
8 oz. mushrooms, sliced+ Add to Shopping List
1/4 teaspoon basil+ Add to Shopping List
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder+ Add to Shopping List
1/2 teaspoon oregano+ Add to Shopping List
2 cans tomatoes, 14.5 oz. each+ Add to Shopping List
1 can tomato paste, 6 oz.+ Add to Shopping List
Salt, to taste+ Add to Shopping List
1 green bell pepper, cored, seeded and cut into chunks+ Add to Shopping List
1 lb. spaghetti, cooked and drained+ Add to Shopping List
Grated Parmesan cheese, for topping+ Add to Shopping List
Ground black pepper, to taste+ Add to Shopping List

Directions:

  1. Cook onion and ground beef together in a Dutch oven set over medium-high heat. Cook until meat is browned.
  2. Add mushrooms, basil, garlic powder, oregano, tomatoes, tomato paste, salt and pepper. Reduce heat, cover Dutch oven and simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Add bell pepper; simmer for an additional 15 minutes.
  4. Serve sauce with cooked spaghetti and Parmesan cheese.
