The Tastiest Day of the Year

Monday, October 9th, has never been tastier, because it’s International Pizza and Beer Day! One of the best food and drink pairings of all time. Pizza and beer both have centuries of history that spans the world over. While often associated with Italy, pizza’s origins can be traced to 600 B.C. with the ancient Egyptians and Greeks. They were known to grind cereal grains to make flour, which was formed into a flatbread then coated in olive oil and spices. The recipe evolved over the centuries until it became the pizza we all know and love today, with tomato sauce, cheese, and toppings. While beer has an even longer history, dating back to 5000 B.C., with the earliest mention narrowed down to Egypt and Mesopotamia. Making beer one of the oldest drinks produced by humans. On that note, let’s raise a glass and enjoy a big sliced and celebrate International Pizza and Beer Day!

Enjoy the Ballpark at Home

The MLB Playoffs begin this Tuesday, October 3rd. Hot dogs and sausages are some of the most popular and most ordered food items at Major League Baseball Stadiums across the country. Stop in your local Bianchini’s this week to pick up Bianchini’s Homemade Sausage and Brats. Fire up the grill and enjoy these stadium favorites while watching the games unfold in the comfort of your home.

Beer-Simmered Grilled Sausages

Simple and easy to prepare with big flavors.

Ingredients

  • 3 lb. Bianchini’s sausages, your preference
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups beer, your preference
  • Water
  • Vegetable oil, for brushing
  • Mustard, for serving

Directions

Prick each sausage a few times with a fork.

Spear each marshmallow on a long-handled skewer or fork. Toast the marshmallows over coals or on the grill over low heat.

Arrange the onions on the bottom of a large pan. Place the sausages on top and pour beer and water over sausages, just enough to cover. Bring to medium heat. Poach the sausages until half-cooked, about 5 minutes.

Preheat grill to medium-high.

Brush grill grates with vegetable oil. Lightly brush the sausages on all sides with vegetable oil and place on the hot grill.

Cook until the casings are crisp and nicely browned, and the sausages are cooked through, about 4-6 minutes per side.

Transfer the sausages to a plate and let rest for 3 minutes before serving.

Serve with mustard and enjoy with your favorite craft beer.
