Skillet Rib Eye Steak and Mushrooms

Fine dining made easy at home.

Ingredients:

1 rib eye steak
3 tablespoons olive oil, more for seasoning steak
2 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1/2 cup sliced mushrooms
1 scallion, sliced
Coarse sea salt, to taste
Ground black pepper, to taste

Directions:

  1. Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Rub steak with olive oil and season with salt and ground black pepper.
  3. Add the steak to the skillet. Cook steak for 4 minutes then turn over. Reduce heat to medium and cook steak for an additional 4 minutes, for medium rare.
  4. Add 3 tablespoons olive oil and butter to another skillet, bring skillet to medium heat.
  5. Once butter has melted, add crushed garlic and saute until golden. Add mushrooms and lightly season with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 10 minutes, until mushrooms turn golden. Add scallions and saute for about 2 minutes.
  6. Spoon mushrooms and scallions with liquid over steak.
