Hand Dipped Corn Dogs

This is an irresistible Disneyland copycat recipe!

Ingredients:

1 egg
8 hot dogs
2 tablespoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup corn meal
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, more for frying
1 cup buttermilk
8 popsicle sticks
1 cup corn meal
2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup flour

Directions:

  1. Fill a pot a quarter of the way full with vegetable oil. Heat to a boil.
  2. As oil is heating, combine sugar, salt, corn meal, baking powder and flour. Mix together well.
  3. Add milk, 2 tablespoons vegetable oil and egg to dry mixture. Whisk together.
  4. Insert popsicle sticks into hot dogs. (leave enough room for a good size handle)
  5. Dip hot dogs into dry mixture. Coat evenly.
  6. Place hot dogs into hot oil. Cook 3-4 minutes each. Remove from oil, place on paper towels to drain.
